The Google Chrome internet browser has just received an update with the “beta” version of Google Chrome. This looks very interesting indeed and boasts an impressive 25%-35% speed increase however, it will take a lot to part me from my beloved Firefox, especially with all my customised SEO add ons, multiple profile set ups and the amazing GreaseMonkey script tool.

That said Chrome certainly seems as though it is on the right path to mass market usage and attracting many more users.

This “split screen” ability for example is a fantastic option that seems to have been “borrowed” from what I’ve seen Windows 7 do. It’s a great idea as the hype that users create from Windows 7 having the ability of being able to do this may push users that are still on Vista or XP to use chrome so the are not missing out on the “split screen fun”. That said i’d always recommend dual screen, especially for any SEO Analysis’s or Engineers out there! Dual screen will increase your productivity. Either way the new Chrome looks exciting and definitely worth a spin, that said have a guess what browser I’m writing this on

After using eBuyer for many years doing self builds buying components and general bits and bobs from here – www.ebuyer.com. I decided it should all come to an end about 2 years ago when ebayer offered the Acer PC’s complete systems at such an amazing prices. Great builds which saved me hours of headaches and tinkering, simply plug and play and upgrade if required.

After reading the reviews on eBuyer and my old PC starting to slow down I decided it was time for me to upgrade. I bought this MAXDATA RIG here:

http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/cat/Home-PCs/subcat/Intel—Core-2-Duo

I was amazed by the price! A geat deal, the build quality is fantastic, also screwless sides to get into the pc itself. I really enjoy VISTA contrary to what a lot of people think its nice and smooth and looks great! I’m slightly concerned about security issues but am behind a hardware firewall on my router currently so thats slightly better.

I think there are a few compatibility issues with Vista, so I’ve heard (software) but I’ve not run into any of these yet. Everything opens instantly on clicking it and it’s a great PC!

I also bought a Point of View 7600GT PCI-E (Quick find code on ebuyer.com – 106578 it was on offer but now sold out) plugged it straight in and also an extra Gig of RAM (quick find code on ebuyer.com – 82244) installed these no problem, after my 1st boot. Quick tip the RAM is a bit of a tight squeeze behind the HDD but simple enough.

After getting this up and going I decided I wanted a bit more (always the case lol) so have now ordered another stick of RAM another HDD (Quick Find code on ebuyer.com – 94403) and a new 22 inch wide screen Samsung monitor.

After being out of the scene of building PC’s for a while and reading an Over Clocking article on my very processor at:

http://www.techspot.com/article/13-intel-core2duo-e6300-e6700-overclocking/page7.html

(Thanks to the guy who originally posted this on ebuyer.com in the reviews)

I realised this PC is capable of A LOT more! I am unsure if the BIOS is unlocked and capable of over clocking. But in the article they recommend DDR2 6400 RAM and I’d just bought myself what I thought was enough – DDR2 4200. Slightly annoyed at this and I guess I’ll have to replace ALL the RAM if I decide to go for an overclock. Maybe the powerpack too? Please let me know! Post a comment!

I know this question has been asked before but has anyone tried the overclock on this RIG with the standard DDR2 4200 533mhz RAM?

I’m going to post pictures of my finished rig in the next couple of days so keep a look out, also going to have the 22″ Samsung Monitor soon too and will try “dual screening” it with my current 19″ Neovo monitor Should be fun and well worth a look.

Feel free to comment.

Cheers!

Remove Bonjour.exe from your computer

Have you recently installed Photoshop CS3 and noticed a small file running on in the background of your system called Bojour.exe ?

I did and I had a mild scare, after a deep search on trusty ol’ Google and spending a few minutes looking around some forums I found the best way to get rid of this annoyance.

What is Bonjour.exe?

Don’t worry this is NOT A TROJAN or a VIRUS – well not if it suddenly appeared when you installed Adobe Photoshop CS3.

“On April 17th, Apple quietly released Bonjour for Windows 1.0.3, which itself isn’t breaking news, nor is the software itself anything for computer users to become overly excited about.” – http://www.macsimumnews.com/index.php/archive/inside_wire_bonjour_convergence
Apple’s Mac is now the house that Windows are installed in. And as the owner of the house, Apple can make changes, many changes to the Windows therein.

The “Bonjour.exe” install is but one small example of this. It allows Windows users the opportunity to print from Internet Explorer, a feature that never seemed important to Microsoft, but to Apple, represented a consistent philosophy of simplicity defined. The potential for Apple to continue adding, even deleting software from Windows is evident.” – http://www.macsimumnews.com/index.php/archive/inside_wire_bonjour_convergence

I think this is quite annoying and seems to be bundled on the sly, I don’t want it and/or need it!

Soo…

How to remove Bonjour.exe

On my version of windows I have program called “Unlock” in my control panel, if you don’t have this, don’t worry you can download it from here:

Unlocker.

It’s a VERY simple program and won’t embed itself or become irremovable, its a great little program you can use to “unlock” files that are running or linked to a currently running program.

All you have to do is go into the bonjour folder (search in windows for this) right click the bonjour.exe and run the unlocker program and delete the bonjour.exe file, there we go. Simple.

Enjoy.
